Jodi spins, weaves, dyes, knits, and decorates  eggs.&nbsp; She is&nbsp; a former officer of the Northern Colorado Weavers\u2019 Guild,  and a former member of&nbsp; the Society for Creative Anachronism, a  medieval living-history group. She has recently retired from raising  dairy and Angora goats and&nbsp;  Churro sheep, but still has chickens and  heirloom turkeys.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"383\" height=\"215\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.nepenthe-farm.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/383_image010.jpg\" alt=\"author photo, Jodi with silk\" class=\"wp-image-221\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.nepenthe-farm.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/383_image010.jpg 383w, https:\/\/blog.nepenthe-farm.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/383_image010-300x168.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 383px) 100vw, 383px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p> Her ancestors came to America from Lusatia (now in Germany) in 1854, on  the sailing ship Ben Nevis, hoping to protect their Slavic language,  culture, and religion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br>Jodi\u2019s mother, the second generation born in America, also decorates <em>pysanky<\/em> eggs. Jodi\u2019s daughter made her first <em>pysanka<\/em> egg when she was 5. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br>  Jodi graduated from the California Institute of Technology in 1976,  with a degree in Chemical Engineering. Jodi\u2019s background in chemical  engineering, and her interests in fiber and in medieval life all lead to  her work with natural dyes. <em>Medieval Dyes<\/em>, based on her own experimental research, is her first book.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br>  Within the Society for Creative Anachronism, Jodi is known as Mistress  Drahomira Jaroslavna.
